Interview with Rafael García/ Volomir

(ENGLISH VERSION BELOW, CLICK ON READ MORE...)

No quiero

¿Has tenido ganas alguna vez
de abandonar alguno de ellos?

Volomir: Sin duda "The Last Stand of the Crimson Fists", unas 400 horas de trabajo, una

¿Has pintado alguna miniatura

Ir a

ENGLISH VERSION

To start and never better said:
- When and how did you start in this ''world''?

Volomir: Well, I think like many others of my generation. I started when I met
Games Workshop and Warhammer and I started to buy armies and play
with them.
My beginnings were about 12 years old maybe, I painted warriors of chaos and lizard
with Citadel. Those were the days!
Years later, in college, and after several years where the thumbnails left aside,
I decided to pick up the paint but it was not enough game for me, so that through
I started researching the internet and I was lucky to run into the Spanish Team forum
just when it began. That was the beginning of my painting "seriously", back in 2005.

-Before you give your painting courses, have you attended any other as a student?

Volomir: Absolutely. As I said, I really started painting when he created the forum
Spanish Team, where he met the man who was my first and greatest teacher, Alfonso Giraldes, with
I gave a course (the first thing he did) and then become good friends after I had my
hand to guide me in my first steps. I was also lucky enough to go to a course
Joaquín Palacios sculpture, which took away much fear of putty.

- Have you ever thought of living this way? Why?

Volomir: Of course, I think we all do sooner or later. Mainly
because there is nothing like live what you love. However, when I painted
Professionally, I've seen more passion and my hobby became an obligation
and from that moment I realized that living painting was not an option. I do not want
feel compelled to paint something when I do not feel like doing it, there is nothing worse for
burn a person.

-We have seen in your blog many projects that carry an amount of time
impressive. What has been the longest-led? Have you ever felt like
to leave any of them?

Volomir: Definitely "The Last Stand of the Crimson Fists", about 400 hours of work, a
bestiality of time in my opinion. And yes, not only have I had any desire to leave
but actually I have one left over. It's difficult to stay motivated
a project in a long time, but sometimes it's better to leave and
resume it later. Unfortunately many of them fail to be resumed
ever. Hang WIPs in my blog helps me to follow carefully the progress of each
one and also to stay motivated through. The comments people are a
tremendous help and are an inexhaustible source of encouragement.

Generally fantasy-pints. Do not you call the historic? Have you ever painted miniature
historical?

Volomir: Yes, I called historic. As such I think I have not painted but not historical
I doubt that I will. Just do not worry about me I uniformology. That
field is not mine nor do I think it is in the near future.

- Any tips for beginners? Do you recommend going to paint courses? Why?

Volomir: to paint, to paint and to paint. It is the only way to improve. Visit
contests, events, courses ... all that is great and you learn a lot, sure, but if
then do not put it into practice, is worthless. I am sure that all painters
admire those who have given up painting to get where they are. And yes, I recommend
go much painting courses. What better way to lay a foundation on which
settle and start flying one. See what others are doing and how they do in
Direct to me is priceless. If someone recommends courses go, that's me, I started
in the same way!

-And finally, do you think the hobby has evolved in recent years? Or Positive?
negatively?

Volomir: It has evolved a lot, and from my point of view, positive. I
I started at a time of much change and evolution, especially in the Fantasy
our country. Born of the Spanish Team forum and with it a new generation of painters
I think it has witnessed a new wave of painters accounts. Each day pint
more people every day and is the highest level. Every day I turn on my computer and
marvel at the things I see people do.

- Could you tell us what is your perception of the Spanish outlook?

Volomir: For me Spain has one of the largest communities of paint level
world. It is demostrated every day in the work of our professional artists, the
Figure brands of our country, and contests and events involving painters
Spanish.
We are in a privileged position and I think well recognized worldwide.
Maybe we need more cohesion and group mentality, care for each other.
We know that in Spain we specialize in despising our own, but I have no
doubt that we are at the top and follow up there for long.

'Thank you for granting me this interview Rafa!

Volomir: To you for the opportunity, pleasure
